And now to satisfy your curiosity. ;)
What is Battle of the Books?
Battle of the Books, or BoB, as we like to call it, is a contest done in some schools that we have modified so we can run it on the blogosphere! Our Battle consists of four rounds: a reading portion, a scavenger hunt, a writing portion, and a trivia round. Players are divided into four teams based off popular or classic books and series. We then supply a carefully compiled book list full of suggestions and bases of our trivia questions. The teams compete, and the points rack up!
How long is BoB?
BoB lasts four weeks, roughly a month. Each round lasts a week, starting Sunday and ending Saturday night by 11:59 p.m. ;) (Yes, I did just do that. Go ahead and round it off. XD) It will be starting October 2nd and ending on October 30th, just in time for NaNoWriMo!
What is the book list?
Sadly, we can't reveal that...yet. But, in case you have any worries, we have tried to make it as clean as possible. Both Lydia and I have read at least half of the books on the list, all of them read thoroughly. We also tried to include shorter titles and popular titles you may have already read, since we know everyone is pretty much occupied with school. But only one title per team is required to be read. All others on the list are optional, although we will be basing our bonus trivia off them. As for variety, we have included fantasy, historical, dystopian, YA, MG, and contemporary genres. All titles are works of fiction. If you are uncomfortable reading something, it's all right. That's why we've made the list flexible. :)
What are the teams?
Yes! Something we can reveal! Here you go:
How do I sign up?
You can sign up in the comments below on this post. We will also soon be making a page for this contest, and you can sign up there, too. Just leave a comment with your name, blog, blog url, and what team you would like to be on. Unfortunately, if you don't have a blog, you won't be able to participate until we can figure out how to work that out. :( You can still follow along though. :) Registration (fancy word, I know) starts now and will end Wednesday, September 28th. So go ahead and sign up! *jazzy hands*
Any more questions? We're happy to answer them!
