Last-Minute NaNo Tips

I know it sounds scary, but NaNo is literally hours away! Who's excited? I know I am. But I'm also super nervous. :)
Here's just some last-minute tips for NaNo before the battle with word begins!

Don't edit as you go.
As tempting as it may be, editing just slows you from reaching your 50,000 word goal. I know those red squiggly lines demand your attention, and green underlining can make you cringe, but you must not give in.
One way to avoid editing is to turn off your spell-check and grammar-checking-doohickey. If you can't tell what's wrong, you won't be tempted, right? Come December you can turn it back on to edit your novel, but until then, I suggest leaving it off.

Write in increments.
As crazy as it sounds, writing everything all at once isn't such a good idea. If you sit down to write for two hours, well, good for you, but your mind is going to lose interest. You'll get tired if writing and won't put as much thought and feeling into your novel.
Instead, you should write in increments. Sit down for thirty minutes, take a break, then sit down for another thirty minutes. This way, you can keep your brain moving while still allowing room for rest.

Know what you're writing.
Well, this one's pretty obvious. Have a plot line, guys. Even if you aren't really a planner, you should know what you're going to write next.

Well, that's all. Happy Halloween, and best of luck with NaNoWriMo!!!

Smiles,
Lydia
